Community
Our organisation is grounded in the collective efforts of conservation groups, backyard trappers, and all those that are part of the Predator Free 2050 Movement in the Hauraki Coromandel.
The region has a rich conservation history with over 50% of this landscape-scale area currently under predator management. The Coromandel Forest Park forms the Peninsula’s spine and is surrounded by over 100, almost contiguous, community conservation projects, many in existence for over 20 years.
The leadership, knowledge, resources and infrastructure of each of these organisations provides a strong foundation for a Predator Free Hauraki Coromandel. We are working to connect, enhance, and support the new and existing community conservation groups, land owners, organisations, and thousands of volunteers on our collective journey to a Predator Free Hauraki Coromandel.
Each of their efforts, stories, and successes contribute to the national predator free 2050 goal and inspire others to get involved and make a difference. We recognise the work of all those listed below and celebrate their work in preserving our special place in the world.
